Hello, I’m Nilay Cinar. I made this painting when I was seven years old. It’s been a long time since then, but I’m still painting with the same enthusiasm — in Istanbul, on my little table at home — learning and trying to improve myself day by day.
After graduating from Istanbul Bilgi University’s Advertising Department in 2013, I started working as a Strategist and had the opportunity to collaborate with global brands at various network agencies.
As I shared my daily sketchbook on Instagram, my work gradually began to attract attention. People wanted to see themselves as part of the universe I was creating, and that’s when I started receiving commissions. That’s how my story began.
I deeply care about creating artworks where emotions come to the forefront rather than realism or resemblance. Watercolor, crayons, and gouache are the materials I use most frequently, and I also work with digital illustration.
Currently, as a freelance illustrator, I collaborate with brands, create bespoke works, and sell original paintings and postcards. I illustrate children’s books, working with both digital media and traditional paints. I also share my experience through lessons and group watercolor workshops for those who wish to learn and explore watercolor.
